How it all started...
Located just two blocks from the campus of Pittsburg State University on south Broadway, SBBC is the first and oldest church in the southern part of Pittsburg. Since 1934, South Broadway Baptist Church has existed to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to the university, to the city of Pittsburg, to the surrounding area, and to the world.
For over 90 years, through good times and bad times, the simple truth of the good news of Jesus has been our message and model.
In the Spring of 2025, SBBC experienced new life and a renewed vision to reach our community and world by becoming part of a replant effort. Pastor Jamie and a committed core team from Joplin, Missouri have joined with the caring congregation of SBBC to become partners in ministry to Pittsburg and beyond. We have seen lives changed, hope restored, Jesus praised and kingdom growth. This is a very exciting time to be a part of SBBC!
